Description:
Fourth style fresco with Bacchus/Dionysius depicted on the left and a high isolated mountain on the right (interpreted as Mount Vesuvius or Mount Nysa), its slopes covered with rows of vines growing over stakes. Bacchus, holding the thyrsus, is garlanded and clothed in a cluster of grapes, with a panther at his feet. The serpent that is so prominently displayed is Agathodaemon, the "good spirit" of vineyards and grain fields. The fresco was located in the lararium of the secondary atrium of the House of the Centenary.
