Description:
|
From Pompeii, the House of the Faun (VI.12.2.37), a splendid mosaic with a Nilotic scene from the threshold of the exedra (where the Alexander mosaic was located). The technique is the finer quality opus vermiculatum. The House of the Faun (Casa del Fauno), built during the 2nd century BCE, was one of the largest, and most impressive private residences in Pompeii.
