Description:

This group is made up from the fragments of four statues, and a meaning provided by the addition of a lyre. The head of the 'Muse' is crowned with a laurel or myrtle wreath. Above the wreath is a row of seven attachment holes. The child's torso may have originally been an Eros. The heads, although antique, do not belong with the bodies; the marble types do not match. The body of the 'Muse' probably had a head that was originally veiled, from the arrangement of the existing mantle.
