Description:
Glory of the Virgin fresco in the nave crossing dome, on an octagonal drum, painted between 1656 and 1658 by Raffaele (Raffaello) Vanni. Dedicated to the Virgin, the church was ordered reconstructed by Pope Sixtus IV in 1472 and replaced an earlier chapel. The interior and facade was modified by Bernini in 1655-1660; the dome was painted during this phase. (Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Main_Page)
