Description:
Vespasian (Titus Flavius Vespasianus) was Roman Emperor from 69 to 79 CE. He founded the Flavian dynasty that ruled the Empire for twenty seven years. The bust shows the emperor dressed in a cuirass (chestplate) and cloak, made from colored marble. Vespasian's renown came from his military success.
