Description:
|
In 1555 Veronese was employed by the fellow Veronese Don Bernardo Torlioni (died 1572), who was prior of S Sebastiano, to paint the ceiling of the church’s sacristy. The central canvas of the sacristy ceiling represents the Coronation of the Virgin, and the four surrounding canvases depict the Evangelists. Unlike the nave, the ceiling, in between the elaborate stuccowork moldings, is all oil on canvas. (Source: Grove Art Online; http://www.oxfordart online.com/)
