Description:
|
Caffi made a series of paintings of the Flavian Amphitheatre (Colosseum) and the Roman Forum. The figures usually absent, or of little importance, in his works, in this case take an important role of animating the scene. The striking resemblance to some contemporary photographs means it can be assumed Caffi frequented the environment of artists-photographer s who gave birth to the "Roman School of Photography".
