Description:
|
Certain parts of this painting, such as the angel's wings and the Virgin's tunic are unfinished. This indicates the master painted the most demanding and important elements of the commission, and left the rest to workshop assistants. The tondo is of unknown provenance and was recorded as being in the Uffizi as early as 1704. [Info from museum label.]
