Description:
In the collection of bozzetti (maquettes) of Casa Buonarroti is this clay sketch, whose attribution to Michelangelo is accepted by most scholars. The maquette is presented in its current form as a result of the recomposition of fragments carried out in 1926, overseen by Johannes Wilde and by the then Superintendent of Galleries Giovanni Poggi.
