Description:
|
Podesti had little interest in classical subjects as themes and rendered them only as part of decorative frescowork, as in his paintings (ca. 1830s; destroyed 1902) for the Palazzo Torlonia (destroyed 1902) in Rome. This drawing is part of the collections at Museo di Roma which preserved some works from the Palazzo Torlonia. In Greek mythology, the Titanomachy was a ten-year series of battles fought in Thessaly, consisting of most of the Titans (an older generation of gods, based on Mount Othrys) fighting against the Olympians.
