Description:
|
Santi was a painter and writer. He was the father of Raphael. In his early works, Santi seems to have borrowed from the paintings of Pietro Perugino (who may have visited Urbino in the 1470s), particularly in his use of spacious landscape backgrounds. Yet, Melozzo da Forlì was his most influential master. Melozzo’s painted figures, with their crisply modelled draperies and vigorous foreshortening, proved distinctive models.
