Description:
|
Following a commission by Prior Bernardo Torlioni, the Verona-born painter Paolo Veronese spent three periods between 1555 and 1570 decorating various parts of the interior of San Sebastiano. This included paintings, ceiling canvases and frescoes on the nave and altar walls, using fresco, secco and oil. The themes in the nave include the Book of Esther and three scenes from the early life of Jesus. (Source: Grove Art Online; http://www.oxfordart online.com/)
