Description:
|
Part of the 2015 "Pompeii" exhibit which featured over 220 archaeological artifacts, most from the Naples National Archaeological Museum. The exhibit was designed to immerse viewers in settings of every day life in Pompeii, complete with state-of-the-art visual effects and soundscapes. Pompeii is full of frescoes depicting dramatic scenes. In this wall painting, an actor plays the comic slave in front of two women. Contrary to today, most professional actors were considered low in status, a standing that continued well into the late nineteenth century.
