Description:
|
Probably painted in 1457 for the Salvastrine friars of San Giorgio alla Costa. At the Uffizi since 1868. Placing the figures under a portico enabled Baldovinetti to show his grasp of perspective. He was a follower of the group of early Renaissance scientific realists and naturalists in art which included Andrea del Castagno, Paolo Uccello and Domenico Veneziano.
