Description:
During his last 30 years Chagall mastered stained glass, for which he adapted ancient techniques of hand-painting on the glass before firing, and with which he depicted both religious and secular subjects. He provided windows at the cathedrals of Metz (first window, 1960). This is one of the windows for Metz. The intensities of color that he achieved with the technical support of the stained-glass artist Charles Marq enriched his work in other media.
