Description:
|
Painted in Nuenen, May, 1884. In December 1883 van Gogh returned out of sheer necessity to his parents’ home, who now lived in Nuenen where he received a very cool reception. He was in conflict with his father, who was a clergyman. Van Gogh remained in Nuenen until November 1885, working in its environs. When he realized his work was not commercially viable, he began to study color, and left for Paris in 1886. (Source: Grove Art Online; http://www.oxfordart online.com/)
