A sculpture of tenarmed Durga in the form of Mahisasur Mardini (Mahishasuramardini) holding different ayudhas (weapons) and piercing Mahishasura (a Sanskrit combination of mahisha meaning buffalo and asura meaning demon). Durga traditionally holds the weapons of various male gods of Hindu mythology, which they give her to fight the evil forces because they feel that she is the shakti (energy, power). This is from the Manbhum District in Bihar. (Source: Google Arts & Culture [website]; https://www.google.c om/culturalinstitute /)
