From Sahri Bahlol (Seri Bahlol), about 50 km northeast of Peshawar, Pakistan. The ruins of Sahri Bahlol are the remnants of a small ancient fortified town built during the Kushan period. Ten of the surrounding mounds, all Gandhara Buddhist sites, have been excavated and yielded fine reliefs and large Buddha and bodhisattva statues of schist or stucco. The statue's left hand is missing, but it is making the vajra mudrā, the gesture of knowledge. Gandharan art shows a combination of Indian, Hellenistic and Iranian influences.
