Statue of Aphrodite of the Dresden-Capitoline type; only the torso is antique. Roman copy of the Imperial era after a Hellenistic original. From the Farnese Collection. Variants of the Venus Pudica (suggesting an action to cover the breasts) are the Venus de' Medici and the Capitoline Venus; this is of the Capitoline type. The Capitoline Venus is a slightly over lifesize marble statue of Venus. It is an Antonine copy of a late Hellenistic sculpture that ultimately derives from Praxiteles.
