Marble statue of Titus found near the Lateran Baptistry, 1828. Titus was Roman emperor from 79 to 81. A member of the Flavian dynasty, Titus succeeded his father Vespasian upon his death. Prior to becoming emperor, Titus gained renown as a military commander; here he is represented as a legislator in a toga holding a scroll. The right forearm has been restored.
