Portrays a female deity, Ceres or possibly Juno, and sculpted in the first decades of the second century CE. Modeled on a Greek cultic statue in the style of Phidias, ca. 430 BCE. The head is antique, but not original and was added at the time of restoration. (Source: Vatican Museums (Musei Vaticani) [website]; http://www.museivati cani.va/)
