Description:

Altarpiece in the Gaddi Chapel, which contains the tomb of Cardinal Taddeo Gaddi. The episode of the daughter of Jairus is a combination of miracles of Jesus in the Gospels (Mark 5:21-43, Matthew 9:18-26, Luke 8:40-56). Agnolo di Cosimo, known as Bronzino, trained with Pontormo, the leading Florentine painter of the first generation of Mannerism. He lived all his life in Florence, and from his late 30s was kept busy as the court painter of Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. (Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Main_Page)
