Description:
A high quality, intact fragment from 7th-early 8th century, transferred to canvas, giving an idea of the original richness of the other frescoes. Saint Agatha of Sicily was martyred in approximately 251, during the persecution of Roman Emperor Decius (249-251 CE). Two early churches were dedicated to her in Rome, notably the Church of Sant'Agata dei Goti in Via Mazzarino, ca. 460 CE. (Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Main_Page)
