Description:
Mitchell was an American "second generation" abstract expressionist painter and printmaker. She was a member of the American abstract expressionist movement, even though much of her career took place in France. Organized in four panels whose colored fields seem to emerge from the white, this painting invites reflection on its relation to nature, time and space. The works of this period propose a synthesis between the reserve of European painting and the powerful energies of American Expressionism.
