Description:
In 1947 Riopelle moved to Paris, where La Foret Ardente was created. During the 1950s, Riopelle developed his well-known, mature style of creating large, color "mosaic" paintings executed with a palette knife and by squeezing colors onto the canvas directly from the tube. This work is currently held by Applicat-Prazan gallery in Paris. (Source: Art Basel [website]; https://www.artbasel .com/)
