Notes:
Two panel textile. Plain balanced weave with both continuous and discontinuous weft patterning. warp: Silk, Z twist, single ply 78-80 threads per inch, in red and white. Handspun cotton, Z twist, single ply, light blue and dark blue. weft: Silk, Z twist, single ply, 54-60 threads per inch, in red and white. Cotton, Z twist, single ply, light blue and dark blue. Gold wrapped thread, S wrap, single ply. SELVEDGE: 1/2 cm, silk, Z twist, single ply, in white. SECONDARY MATERIALS: Gold wrapped thread, S wrap. Continuous supplementary weft in metallic thread, 2 lidi (2 warps per pattern stick). Discontinuous supplementary weft in metallic thread, 2 and 3 lidi (2 and 3 warps per pattern stick). Central body plaid, predominantly red silk with stripes in warp and weft of light and dark blue and white. White wefts turn around 8 cm from edge, a tapestry technique. Selvedge bands are 7.5 cm solid red silk and 0.5 cm white silk. The 51 cm on each end (reading from warp end): 8 cm supplementary weft with curl motif for 1 cm, 2 cm follow of 8 point stars separated by "X" motif, 5 cm of cornflowers. Next, 10 cm of warp stripes that are part of the plaid from the center, with "pieces of cake" and other metallic discontinuous supplementary weft patterns in center and cornflower metallic discontinuous supplementary weft on selvedge band. Next: 1.5 cm band of metallic continuous supplementary weft of parading caterpillars. The last two sections are mirror images of the first two sections.
