Florida, near Clewiston. The plains in south central Fla. have proved excellent grazing land for the constantly growing herds of cattle. The zebu was introduced into this region because of its great resistance to heat and insect pests, and the cross-breeding of Zebu and American strains developed a type of cattle well suited to this region.
