Cuba - Province of Oriente - Santiago De Cuba: View of the city founded by the Spaniards in 1514 on the rocky coast rising form the Caribbean Sea, looking across the harbor from one of the ships which is loading with sugar grown and processed into crude form in the Province. This city is capitol of the Province of Oriente and second port city of Cuba. In 1898 during the Spanish-American War, Santiago De Cuba, held and controlled by the Spaniards, was the chief objective of the American forces who landed a few miles down the coast to begin their march to the city.
