Cuba - Province of Oriente - Puerto de Boniato: High on the mountain slopes back of the city of Santiago de Cuba is a summit known as Puerto de Boniato - the gateway to the mountains north and east. From it can be seen this panoramic view of the surrounding country as it runs southward to the Caribbean. To get here the highway winds in around and up over the smaller ridges which hide the road from view at this point, and small farms and their bohio homes dot the landscape. It gives an excellent idea of the terrain neighboring Santiago, the provincial capitol and second port city of Cuba.
