Near Cherokee, N. C.: A Cherokee Indian Woman is a maker of fine baskets. She lives on the Qualla Reservation which is located in the great Smokies National Park. These people cut their material in the surrounding forests from young saplings and then slip it into the proper width and thickness. They make the dyes from native vegetation.
