The modern beneficio of a coffee finca on the outskirts of San Jose. The washing vats in the foreground handle the coffee berries which are washed and de-pulped, and later sluiced down onto the drying terraces below for the shoveling into piles which are constantly re-shoveled to allow the air to reach all beans. Later they are spread out on the terrace floors and constantly raked and hoed into rows which are shifted and changes in the process to allow all the beans to gain the benefit of the hot mountain sunshine. Near San Jose, Costa Rica. C.A.
