Two panel textile. Plain weave with weft ikat bands and continuous supplementary metallic weft. warp: Handspun cotton, Z twist, single ply, 68 threads per inch, blue. Silk, Z twist, single and paired, 128 threads per inch, red, yellow, white. Ramin, Z twist, single ply, natural. weft: Handspun cotton, Z twist, single ply, 46 threads per inch, blue. Silk, Z twist, single ply, 46 threads per inch, ikat - red, light and dark blue, white. Metallic gold wrapped thread, S wrapped on yellow silk(?) core, 2 rows on one half of one end only. Central section blue cotton warps and wefts with ramin thin plaid. 8 cm red selvedge band separated from blue center by 1 cm band of yellow, red, white, and blue stripes. Bordering the blue section at the top and bottom are 3 cm bands of continuous supplementary metallic with cornflower and bamboo shoot motifs, and what approximates the parading caterpillar motif. Next is a 23.5 cm (or 25.0 cm) band of weft ikat diamond patterns similar to Yemeni ikats. Next a 1.5 cm band of metallic parading caterpillars, 9 cm plain blue with ramin plaid, 3 cm of metallic cornflowers, bamboo shoots, and parading caterpillars. Finally a plain blue band with only ramin wefts. Only in this band do the ramin wefts pass selvedge to selvedge. Elsewhere they turn around at the 8 cm red selvedge band. Fringe plied and knotted.
