Notes:
REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: X61.56 & X61.59 are matching halves; they would be sewn together selvage to selvage to make a complete "kain songket". "Kain" indicates large cloth worn as clothing. "Songket" refers to the Indonesian technique of supplementary weft weaving with metallic thread. Would be worn as a sarong for dance performances or ceremonial occasions. Collected during the decade prior to World War II.
