Content/Description
Notes:
REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Consists of long center panel with two end panels sewn on. "Songket" refers to the Indonesian technique of supplementary weft weaving with metallic thread. Collected during the decade prior to World War II. According to collector's information, was worn over rajah's carrying chair, with length in back carried by attendants. This probably refers to the Raja of Buleleng, North Bali, to whom the accompanying piece X61.60 belonged.
