REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Woman's skirt. Sewn into a tube, as it would have been worn. Commercial dye and commercial cotton yarn. From the Bidayuh people, also known as the Land Dayak. Bidayuh textiles are much less well known than Iban textiles. This skirt with striped borders and warp ikat centerfield, closely resembles Iban skirts, but the preponderance of yellow is unusual. Notes from the dealer state that this piece is 60-100 years old.
