Content/Description
Notes:
REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Pants, part of man's costume. Decorated with supplementary weft metallic thread, a technique known as "songket" in Indonesia. This style of pants is illustrated in the literature only from Aceh [Kahn Majlis 1984:plate 34], indicating that it is perhaps a widespead style in Sumatra; see entry for X80.139A for a note regarding the provenience of this costume.
