Notes:
REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: "Kalambi" or jacket consisting of five pieces sewn together; two front panels, one back panel and two sleeves. The badge on the back is decorated with supplementary weft metallic threads, a technique known as "songket". This badge is a separatly woven piece that has been sewn to the jacket, whereas traditionally the badge was woven as an integral part of the back panel [Gittinger 1979:223]. Perhaps it is a replacement or a later addition. Additional strips of red commercial cotton cloth are sewn on at the neckband, the band across the front, and at the sides of the badge. Additional decoration provided by multi-colored wool(?) yarn fringe at back hem [see Kahn Majlis 1984:plate 660 for illustration of this type of fringe]. Long length probably indicates woman's jacket [Palmieri & Ferentinos 1979:78].
